The TRIO McNair Scholars Program, Louis Stokes North Star STEM Alliance, TRIO Student Support Services, and the First-Generation Institute will be hosting a series of Virtual Bridge to the Doctorate Workshops over the course of AY 22-23. These 90-minute sessions are geared towards students who identify as first-generation college students, Pell-eligible, and/or from an underrepresented community who are seeking a pathway to transform systems and are considering a doctorate degree or going to graduate school. Students at any stage of their academic journey are encouraged and welcomed to attend.
This workshop: 'Why Pursue a Doctorate? Demystifying the Graduate School Application and Selection Process will highlight the graduate school preparation and application process. Please join us - whether you know you will be going to graduate school or have an early interest in it - all are welcome!
We will have a panel of graduate school experts who will share their experiences as well, including two PhD students, one MD/PhD student, and one Postdoctoral Associate.
