The research focused on child developmental psychology studies revolving around brain imaging and standardized testing. During this time I assessed brain imaging for quality control, handled public health information requiring deidentification, familiarized myself with standardized psychological assessments, and finally, I presented a peer reviewed article relevant to the lab. I have learned new things and engaged myself in trying new methods I’ve never done before. I’m grateful to have this opportunity where I was able to get hands-on experience and learn depth details about the research lab I’m involved in. This last semester we focused on increasing our visibility. As this was my last semester of my undergraduate degree I felt like I left a bit of a legacy for those to come after me. Increasing the amount of minorities in STEM is really important to me. The fact that many of us turn away from pursuing a STEM degree simply because we don’t believe in ourselves is bleak and upsetting. I’m hoping that a potential student (hopefully many!) will take a look at a BSU brochure or magazine and see our organization and believe in themselves and feel welcome. NSSA has been supportive and offered assistance when I needed it. That means everything to a struggling college student. AH Ashley Harris 12/17/2021

Topics included wildlife poisoning, sustainable agriculture and cooperation with Indigenous peoples, and using technology to improve the ability of wildlife rangers to protect against poachers. Biodiversity is truly a global issue, and communicating with only domestic researchers can only harm our efforts to safeguard our own ecosystems. By sharing ideas globally we can expand our minds and discuss our issues, benefiting our approaches and decreasing the sense of isolation. AH Ashley Harris 12/17/2021

2185563064 ki7820sf@live.bemidjistate.edu beaulieu.alysha@yahoo.com 13847438 This semester in NorthStar STEM of Bemidji was more inclusive and demanding than others. It felt as if the time went by so quickly that there just was not enough time to get into more events than I have, but in these events, I have learned to become more vocal and outgoing. There were two recruiting events, an interview with the Northern Student magazine, a family supper, and two outsourced seminars I had attended for the benefits of fall semester. "What is E.I" and "Understanding STEM Identity" were the two seminars in October that helped shape me into an even better human being and encouraged me to continue to think and grow during the semester. The two recruiting events in Viking/Zoom and Lakeside had put me into a spotlight that I would never choose to be in, but it helped me become stronger in socializing and encouraging others to become a better person. The family supper in October had included just four of us, but still held the most importance to me regarding events I had attended fall 2021 semester. Applebee’s supper helped me relax and unwind in a stressful time as well as just have an enjoyable conversation with one another. I feel that there could have been more times like this to get ideas across or brainstorm in a comfortable environment. I cannot wait for the edition of our Northern Student magazine to be released so we can all see what we have to say about NorthStar STEM. I think the opportunity to have us featured in their magazine was a smart move and am proud that we, as a small group, stayed resilient and strong throughout the semester and stuck through it. Just by being ourselves People of Color are at risk of being assaulted and killed, making it more difficult and risky to live our truths with pride and security. Speaking my truth as an Indigenous woman in natural resource stewardship is really important to me, but their is the real possibility that my voice may put me in danger. However, we as Indigenous people cannot let ourselves be silenced. This panel discussed the reality of what it means when one of us goes missing. It's impossible to imagine, but we're forced to deal with it. Colonization has effected everything in our lives, from our mindsets to our images of ourselves. By discussing these difficulties we can work together to heal and keep each other safe. AH Ashley Harris 12/15/21
