It gave me a chance to learn more about opportunities and companies that are out there. I was also able to grow closer with fellow NSBE members from all around the country. It was also a fun to travel with the members of the UMD chapter and get to hang out with them. At one booth, I was able to get professional photos taken, resume check and interview prep. At another I was able to talk to a future employer and get information about the company face to face. We also had fun and were able to get lots of good food and see sites within Atlanta. There were many good wing spots. Overall the trip was good time and I believe that it is beneficials for NSBE students and can help them in their future. | BL | BL 4/17/2024 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

This conference was an eye opening and transformative journey that not only enriched my personal growth but also played a pivotal role in securing an internship related to my major. The variety of workshops, panel discussions, and keynote speeches all had an impact on me in different ways from each other. I found the interview workshops one of the most beneficial segments. One of the most rewarding aspects of the NSBE conference was the opportunity to network with industry professionals and fellow students. Before coming to this conference, I had very few connections and even less experience talking to people within my industry. The career fair became a crucial avenue for me to showcase my skills and aspirations. I engaged in meaningful conversations, shared my experiences, and learned about various internship opportunities available. NSBE 49 gave me the confidence to articulate my accomplishments, express my goals, and present myself as a capable and passionate candidate. Beyond the career fair, the conference offered numerous occasions to build meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals. The chance to engage in discussions and exchange ideas with peers from different backgrounds was eye-opening. As I reflect on my incredible experience at NSBE 49, I am grateful for the organization's commitment to empowering and uplifting black engineers. One of the most valuable aspects of my experience was the networking opportunities that were available at various events, including hospitality suites and receptions. These events allowed me to connect with a wide variety of recruiters and companies, which helped me to develop my professional skills and learn about potential employment opportunities. Through my participation in NSBE, I was able to curate a personalized development plan that aligned with my career aspirations and interests. This allowed me to gain valuable skills and knowledge in my field of study, which helped to prepare me for future success in my academic and professional pursuits. One of the most impactful outcomes of attending NSBE was the opportunity to interview with multiple top-tier companies, such as Comuns, Boeing, and Toyota. These interviews allowed me to showcase my skills and qualifications, and ultimately helped me to secure several promising job opportunities. Overall, attending NSBE had a profound positive impact on my school life, and I am grateful for the valuable experiences and opportunities that it provided. I would highly recommend NSBE to anyone who is looking to develop their professional skills, expand their network, and pursue career opportunities in engineering or related fields. |
